One of my initial concepts of a tile was to incorporate the curvature and natural element of Gretchen Albrecht’s narrative (sunsets, horizons beaches, nature), in doing so I designed this distorted oval-oid pebble-like shape which resembles a submerged stone or a shell. I thought having these on a floor surface would create a unique natural experience within a space as it feels natural however is in such a sterile modern environment.📷

I chose in the 2nd workshop to glaze my tile in a duck-egg green blue pastel colour, I found this colour really natural and enticing, I think its very calming and would fit well in to a bathroom space which I believe to be the most natural room in a house and the colour also fits in to an aqua theme with its colour but its shape as well, as it also resembles a water-droplet shape.

I will be testing out the use of this tile indoors and outdoors as I predominantly wanted to keep the interior spaces quite minimalist. And also I want to play around with scale of the tile, as this model was intended to be scaled down around (1:5) and the real tile would be around 30cm diameter so it felt more like stepping stones, but there is something really playful and candy-like about the colouring and scale in my practice tile that is enjoyable, which makes me want to consider the tile being used at this scale and possible on a wall or vertical surface so its interactive and tactile.
