ORBITAL CHROMA READING NOOK

A playful, modern colourful take on Gretchen Albrecht's painting style is portrayed in this far from ordinary relaxation space.

I wanted a unique space which appears hidden from certain angles to create a comfortable cubby feel. The reading nook is recessed in to a deep wall making it feel cave-like. The vibrant yellow is warm, cheerful and inviting, and the bespoke bookshelves add a playful element and cast shadows to create a tonal shift within the yellow cubby.

The ovular shape used in this screening system was inspired by Gretchen's use of oval paintings, and the linear elements she combines them with is my reasoning for having the pivot point vertical, and the pole visible. This space is extremely playful and colourful, the screening system resembled lolly pops in addition to the candy bold colour scheme.
