I wanted to create my glass intersections with the idea that glass is moving and flowing, because over a long period of time it actually is warping.

After deciding to create nature based furniture pieces, with the materials concrete and glass, I decided I wanted the two to interact in strange ways, and intersect with each other, flow, and create tension.

This first furniture fitting is a lamp I have designed which explores concrete which is already textured but has this grid extruded through it creating nooks for shadows and light to move through, I made these gaps quite deep so that aside from the light expression out the top, the light can only be seen on certain angles when you move past and around the object.

I am imagining this glass addition to be blow glass, with a very slight frost (sandblast) to it so that there is more surface area for the internal light to bounce around. the glass is tinted a very citrusy orange, I chose this because It almost looks very satisfying with the gooey looking texture, as if it was honey or tree sap.

The glass would be blown on to the surface creating the bulging shape which is moulded around the edges, as if bulging or melting out of the structure, Because it is blown into and around the concrete the structure wouldn't require any binding as it slots in to the structure nicely and was actually build moulded into the concrete. With the lights positioned on the inside the orange glass at the top diffuses the lights to cast a warm fireplace like glow to the site its placed in.
