As one of my key components I was exploring the way that concrete and glass intersect, and how the glass textures can create interesting lighting effects. I have designed glass display panels which will be made from textured glass, and printed/engraved with plant cells, and patterns. These will be like an inside look to the plants, a close up of what they're seeing in reality.
The plan is to retrieve cell imagery from certain plants in the glasshouses within the winter-gardens and translate these on to a tactile display, ideally these would be education and the concrete base would have information about the plant and the imagery the viewers are seeing.
The glass panels are grounded with a solid concrete base, this base appears broken and raw along the edge where the glass intersects with it.
This was inspired by my earlier sequence where i portrayed decay and instability in rock surface (modeled with clay) this was an interesting topic and surface quality so i chose to explore it further, and found myself using this decay narrative throughout my work since.
